On 20.04.2004 at the www.pomprevisie.nl website following article was published: carbon fibre reinforced drive shaft for a vertical pump drive carbon fibre reinforced drive shaft for a vertical pump drive, as replacement of a steel cardan shaft. Because of its much higher weight the original steel shaft needed an intermediate bearing.
The carbon fibre reinforced drive shaft of about 10 meters length does not need an intermediate bearing
These shafts are torsionally dampening and have no thermal expansion in the longitudinal direction, so less loading on the bearings.
Also they are maintenance-free and corrosion resistant : the hubs and the bolts and nuts are from 316 stainless steel, the carbon fibre reinforced pipes with composite flanges glued into the tube at both ends are dynamically balanced. For more information: info@bisboth.nl
